Taking Company
Vehicles Abroad (Holiday)
Some fleet
managers may think that once
their drivers leave the working
environment and are on holiday
they have no duty of care over
them; but if one of your company
cars is impounded because the
driver cannot provide adequate
documentation you may find that
you are very much involved.
Many countries
require an International Driving
Permit and all drivers must have
their passport and motor
insurance certificate on them at
all times. Company car drivers
abroad must also carry either
the original V5 documentation
for the vehicle or a
'Vehicle-On-Hire' (VE103)
document for contract
hire/leased vehicles. The latter
is obtained from the registered
keeper of the vehicle and gives
the driver permission to take it
overseas.
